Recommendation Letter

Architectural Design Consultants, Inc. (ADCI) is pleased to recommend Holtz Builders, Inc.
(HBI) for an ABC Projects of Distinction Award for their work on the Wilderness Wild West
Water Park and Swimm’n Chick’n: Chicken Eatery and Sports Bar Renovation. Throughout
the project, HBI proved their dedication to open communication and collaboration with the
design team and other partners.
The scope of the waterpark renovation consisted of the removal of an existing slide complex
and indoor pool, which were replaced by an upgraded ride package and a new swim-up bar
complex with additional cabanas. The existing buildings, exterior slide complex and buried
utilities created a tight construction site that required detailed planning and extensive coor-
dination between the design and construction teams. This, along with the client’s strict dead-
line for completion prior to the coming busy season formed the project’s chief challenges.
While the design team worked to minimize the demolition and reconstruction of interior
walls, so as not to disrupt the operation of surrounding buildings, Holtz went above and be-
yond to cooperate with site restrictions and communicate critical information. With everyone
working together, we were able to utilize the majority of the existing exterior wall openings
and reconfigure under-utilized existing space to meet the client’s needs.
Creating a new themed restaurant in the space of an existing food venue was another piece
of the project that presented challenges, as the team worked to stay within existing physical
and MEP confines while providing a much-needed queuing space for guests. Again, regular
communication between the design and construction teams was critical as previously un-
known existing conditions and further restrictions were uncovered and dealt with.
We thank HBI for their collaborative approach to the build process and their commitment to
clear and timely communication. These demonstrated values were instrumental in the suc-
cessful completion of both renovations, which were completed on time and turned over toa
very satisfied client.
